Axians has increased the number of Técnico scholarship holders to seven
The ‘AXIANS – Business For @ll’ Scholarship Programme 2024/2025 has awarded five scholarship renewals and two new scholarships.
“I want to express my gratitude for supporting me and my colleagues. With every lesson learned, every discovery made, and every challenge faced, I am certain that your support has made this possible. It gives me the courage to keep moving forward”, said Carmem Reis, a Técnico student and one of the five students whose scholarships were renewed under the ‘AXIANS – Business For @ll’ Scholarship Programme for 2024/2025, during the Axians scholarship signing ceremony on February 18, held at the Civil Engineering Museum, at Técnico – Alameda campus. The event also celebrated the awarding of two new scholarships. Carmem’s testimonial is an example of how these ceremonies can serve as a true ‘celebration of generosity,’ as noted by Francisco Melo, the Vice-President of Técnico for Academic Affairs. He expressed his gratitude to the programme’s patron and characterised the students as the school’s ‘most precious asset.’
In another emotional speech that morning, Nafisa Macamo, one of the new scholarship recipients, summed up her feeling: ‘at a time when I had lost all hope, you came along and allowed us to follow our dreams’. The Axians representative, Carla Madeira, responded: ‘This day is always exciting, we’re planting a seed with you’. ‘The greatest acts of solidarity involve helping those around us. Every project that you manage to realise brings an immense joy’, she added. Marco Teixeira, also representing the company, added: ‘With this initiative we aim to alleviate some injustices. We’re not giving up on you. Don’t give up on yourselves and strive to achieve your goals’.
Students António Carvalho, Juan Lopez, Carmen Reis, Davilson Delgado, Lidiano Pires, Nelma Andrade and Sandro Furtado renewed their scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year. Carlos Reis and Nafisa Macamo are the new scholarship holders.
The ‘AXIANS – Business For @ll’ Scholarship Programme is a collaboration between Técnico and AXIANSEU DIGITAL SOLUTIONS, S.A. and recognises the academic merit of students enrolled in Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering, with an exceptional scholarship awarded to a Biomedical Engineering student. As part of the programme, the scholarship holders commit to volunteering 30 hours per semester at Técnico or at institutions of relevant social interest.
Also present at the ceremony were Jorge Fernandes, Vice-President of Education and Training at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Paulo Correia, coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rui Valadas, coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Telecommunications and Informatics and Patrícia Figueiredo, Vice-President of the Department of Bioengineering.
