Young scientists from Restelo discover the power of electrical circuits with the ROB9-16
Agrupamento de Escolas do Restelo recently received a visit from the ROB9-16 robotics club, which provided a practical and educational experience for two 5th grade classes. During the activity, the young scientists had the opportunity to assemble an electrical circuit for a flashlight using a battery and an LED, thus awakening their interest in the world of electricity and electronics.
This initiative was very well received by the students and teachers, who highlighted the importance of these STEM activities for the students’ learning and development. The Director of Agrupamento de Escolas do Restelo, David Casimiro, highlighted this partnership between schools and universities:
“These initiatives are extraordinary, because when we join hands between universities and schools, it creates a unique learning opportunity. Extra motivation is created and lessons are passed on. In fact, I’m very happy when this happens, because there’s an increasing need for this kind of coordination. Here in our school we already have links with the Instituto Superior Técnico in the field of robotics and we are always open to these initiatives in which university students can come to the school, to the classrooms, and create the dynamics needed for this moment.”
The activity will be promoted to 11 2nd cycle classes. This day involved two 5th grade classes and was marked by the commitment and dedication of the youngsters. The success of this initiative reinforces the importance of creating bridges between primary education and higher education institutions, promoting interest in science and technology from an early age.
