New School bodies take office for the 2025-2028 quadrennium
A solemn ceremony welcomed the elected members of the School Council, the Scientific Council, the Pedagogical Council and the School Assembly.
“I solemnly affirm that I will fulfill the functions entrusted to me, with respect for the duties arising from the Constitution and the Law.” This was the phrase most often heard in the Salão Nobre of the Instituto Superior Técnico on the afternoon of January 7, when the School’s new bodies took office.
During the ceremony, the elected members of the School Council, the Scientific Council, the Pedagogical Council and the School Assembly took to the stage, one by one, to sign their terms of office together with Técnico’s president, Rogério Colaço, and the Rector of the University of Lisbon, Luís Ferreira.
For the professor, the swearing-in of the School’s bodies is a “significant moment” and, more than a “mere formality”, “the solemn session is a symbol of the transition and renewal of the bodies that will govern the School”, which “everyone hopes will be an example of the continuous search for excellence, innovation and progress as the benchmark institution that we are”.
Rogério Colaço also expressed his “sincere gratitude” to all the outgoing members for their “fundamental commitment and dedication to the development of Técnico”, which will leave “an indelible mark” on the school.
In his speech at the end of the ceremony, the rector of the University of Lisbon joined the president of Técnico in thanking “all the outgoing members for their work”. Luís Ferreira pointed out “the generosity of people who give themselves to their institution because they recognize what it means to them”. He also appealed to those present to continue “to be a reference in Portuguese universities”, recalling that everyone wants “the good of this institution”.
