Técnico+ and novobanco establish strategic partnership for advanced training

The protocol signing will take place on June 20 and reinforces the connection between Instituto Superior Técnico and the financial sector.

Técnico+ Formação Avançada, the advanced and executive education platform of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), and novobanco will sign a collaboration protocol on June 20, aiming to promote the continuous upskilling of the bank’s professionals through training programs aligned with the current and future challenges of the financial industry.

With a five-year duration and the possibility of renewal, this partnership is based on a close connection between academia and the business sector, with immediate impact in the municipality of Oeiras and potential for nationwide expansion across novobanco’s entire ecosystem in Portugal.

Strategic pillars of the agreement

The protocol establishes a joint platform for advanced training, which includes:

  • Professional development for novobanco teams: the creation of programs in critical areas such as data science, cybersecurity, sustainable finance, and innovation management, delivered by faculty from IST and Técnico+, as well as industry experts;
  • Two campuses dedicated to training: courses will be held primarily at IST’s Oeiras campus (Taguspark), with scientific and technical support reinforced by the Alameda campus in Lisbon;
  • Hybrid and scalable formats: training will be offered in in-person, online, and in-company formats, ensuring wide geographic coverage and implementation flexibility;
  • Knowledge and innovation network: the protocol provides access to IST’s technological ecosystem, fostering synergies with startups, R&D centers, and public entities, and creating opportunities for collaborative innovation.

By promoting the delivery of training programs at IST’s Oeiras campus, the initiative strengthens the municipality’s ability to attract and retain highly qualified talent, helping consolidate Oeiras as a hub for innovation and knowledge.

At the same time, the involvement of the Alameda campus ensures the scientific depth needed to scale these programs nationwide, supporting the continuous development of Novo Banco’s human and technological capital across all its units.
