Técnico Oeiras Chess Tournament brings together 25 participants in the Átrio Norte

This afternoon, the North Atrium of Técnico Oeiras hosted the second edition of the Técnico Oeiras Chess Tournament, an initiative promoted by Professor António Bravo, a lecturer in the Mathematics Department and a member of the board of the Portuguese Chess Federation.

Beginning at 2pm, the tournament was attended by around 25 participants, who played a variety of single games with plenty of strategy and tactics. The winner of the competition was Gabriel Monte, an undergraduate student in Informatics and Computer Engineering, who showed great skill throughout the matches and was awarded “The Words of Tactics”, a book that highlights the importance of analysis and strategic thinking in chess.

The event stood out not only for the quality of the games, but also for the team spirit among the participants, who made the competition a time for learning and exchanging experiences. This tournament reflects Técnico Oeiras’ commitment to promoting interaction between students, teachers and the academic community, creating a space for developing skills outside the classroom context.
