Solidarity Project | ShareToy
From November 10 to 28, a ShareToy collection point will be available at the Logistics Laboratory powered by Worten. ShareToy is a solidarity project that collects and repairs damaged or used electronic toys, giving them a new purpose by donating them to children in vulnerable situations.
The initiative is promoted by the IEEE-IST Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), in partnership with several student groups from Técnico — including AEIST, IEEE, and GBU — who have come together to shape this project with a strong social impact.
ShareToy was created more than 10 years ago through a collaboration between NeRD – Núcleo de Robótica Diversificada (Diversified Robotics Group) and the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Aveiro, and has since mobilized hundreds of volunteers. In the last edition, more than 1,000 toys were collected, which underwent cleaning, repair, and testing processes, thanks to the dedicated work of around 100 volunteers, including students, teachers, and local partners.
