Instituto Superior Técnico made another breakthrough in the area of innovation and development with the inauguration of LOG.Lab, the new Logistics Laboratory powered by Worten, located at the Técnico Pole in Oeiras.
This event reinforced the strong relationship between the Instituto Superior Técnico and Worten, which is part of the Técnico Partner Network, with the aim of encouraging innovation, training talent and developing technology.
LOG.Lab reflects Técnico’s mission to broaden its areas of activity, offering better conditions for learning and training within the business fabric, and aims to enhance training in areas such as Logistics, Warehouse Management, Operations Management and Supply Chain Management, with a focus on its practical component.
The session was attended by Professor Rogério Colaço, President of Instituto Superior Técnico, who highlighted the importance of this collaboration. “Worten belongs to our network of partners, and together we aim to train talent and create innovation and development,” he said. “We are focused on creating qualified jobs and maintaining a deep and close connection with our network of partners, in order to do more and better, together with institutions and companies.” Miguel Mota Freitas, CEO of Worten, also stressed the importance of this strategic partnership. “We are committed to growing and partnering with such a prestigious unit as Técnico, transforming Worten into a digital company, always focused on serving the Portuguese”.
Professor Pedro Amaral, Vice-President of the Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Interface at Instituto Superior Técnico, stressed the importance of bringing academia and industry together. Ana Póvoa, Chair of the Department of Engineering and Management (DEG), then stressed the value of LOG.Lab for her department. “LOG.Lab is an important brand for us, reflecting years of a solid relationship with Worten.” As ambassadors for the Técnico-Worten partnership, Susana Relvas, a lecturer at Técnico, and Hugo Alexandre, an engineer at Worten, highlighted the potential of the activities to be developed in the laboratory.
To close the cycle of speeches, Técnico alumni Pedro Rodrigues and Afonso Barroso, who were responsible for making the laboratory work, praised the commitment and dedication of the team, which had worked for many months to bring this project to fruition. After the ceremony, the event was followed by the inauguration and visit to LOG.Lab, with a short demonstration and explanation of how the laboratory works.
This laboratory not only represents a significant step forward for Técnico’s Engineering and Management Department, but also crosses Técnico and Worten’s ongoing commitment to partnership.
