Rob9-16 Science Summer Camp

Registrations are now open for the Rob9-16 Science Summer Camp.

From July 14 to 18 or July 21 to 25, get ready to dive into an adventure full of exciting experiments, creative challenges, and surprising discoveries.

Want to build a robotic sunflower that mimics nature?

In this hands-on activity, you’ll get the chance to create an electronic flower that automatically rotates to follow sunlight—or the beam of a flashlight—just like a real sunflower. Using light sensors and simple Arduino programming, we’ll explore the basics of robotics, electronics, and renewable energy in a fun and engaging way.

Throughout the activity, participants will:

  • Explore basic electronics and programming through practical, accessible tasks;
  • Assemble a small system using LEDs, sensors, and motors;
  • Learn how Arduino can control movement and lighting;
  • Watch their sunflower move towards the light.

This activity blends art, science, and technology, encouraging teamwork, creative thinking, and logical reasoning—while having fun with a project that students can take home or exhibit at school.
